not light itself
I spent some time with my Barbara Kasten book tonight. I forgot that she had some fiber-arts in her early practice which was a delight to recall.

It was nice to see some different techniques using cyanotype - I had a vision that the next time I was at my studio I would clean out all of my cyanotype supplies, but I didn’t do that. There is more to find there, maybe.
Otherwise, I’m really in a “have I ever had a thought or creative impulse” thought spiral.
I do feel like Jerry Saltz is personally targetting me with his tweets a lot
But I have two sweet reminders that I have infact made things in the past (evidence I could do so again)
Last week I received this poster in the mail from A--Company, a clothing line, that used one of my self portraits (along with many others’ photographs, including my friend Lake’s photos) in a fabric used in their latest collection.
Rhizome also announced that one of my projects is included in a group of tumblrs selected for accession, to be added to the Rhizome ArtBase. My longform gif-collage self portrait of a tumblr, Giffaces was selected and will now be archived and contextualized with some other really amazing artists who I admire.
One of my favorite things about Giffaces is that the project was essentially a product and documentation of boredom. Of ennui. It was a technologically simple and quick way for me to construct imagery of my immediate surroundings, and it became this really strange log and time capsule. It reminds me that small creative acts add up, that cumulation is part making - time an essential element.
Back to work. :)
